In the past, hop were used to be named via the original areas where the hops were cultivated, such as Qingdao hops in China, and Hallertauer, Spalt in Germany; Saaz in the Czech Republic. It is also named after the person who initiated the hop, such as Golding and Fuggle in the United Kingdom. Besides, there is also hops named after a certain feature of hops, such as the Australian white bine. As for the original varieties of these hops, they are often not well understood.
Later, due to the variety increasing of hops cultivated by countries, the naming method was not so regular. 
 

Hops: Cascade
Country of origin: United States
α-acid content: 4.5-7.0%
Features: bitter and fragrant
Medium-bred varieties, dark green, with medium-intensity floral scent, and unique scent. High yield, strong disease resistance and poor storage performance. Developed and planted in Oregon in 1972 under the US Department of Agriculture's breeding program. It is the most popular fragrant flower variety in the United States.
Features: Extremely remarkable grapefruit citrus aroma and taste.
Use: It can be used as a bitter flower and fragrant flower to cook during boiling, and it is also suitable for dry hopping.
Suitable for brewing: American light color Ale, Amber Ale, IPA
 

Hops: Centennial
Country of origin: United States
α-acid content: 12-14%
Features: bitter and fragrant
Launched in 1990, it is considered as a very balanced hop, often referred to as "Super Cascade." Ideal for brewing Ale, and whether it is barley or wheat beer, it complements it.
 

Hops: Citral
Country of origin: United States
α-acid content: 11-13%
Features: bitter and fragrant
The bitter and fragrant hops launched in 2007, were developed by the American Hops Breeding Company. It is a breeding line of Hallertauer, Mittelfruh, Tettnanger, East Kent Golding, Brewers Gold and many other known fragrant flowers. It has a rich citrus aroma and tropical fruit aromas (such as mango, guava, etc.). The content of alpha acid is higher than that of ordinary fragrant flowers. Its bitterness is outstanding, with both bitter and fragrant.
This hops is a new star fragrant flower after the traditional four aristocratic scented flowers. Citra is the most popular and slap-up flower in the beer house in the United States.
Use: It can be used as a bitter flower and fragrant flower to cook during boiling, and it is also suitable for dry use.
Suitable for brewing: American light color Aier, IPA.
