About setting temperature accuracy for FV

“On the fermenters and BBT I am considering replacing the gauge controllers as I want a finer temperature control.  We want 0.1 degree resolution control rather than +1.0 degrees.  As an example if we set the temperature to 22.0 degrees the cooling won’t kick in until 23.0 degrees and cooling will stop at 22.0 degrees although there will be an under shoot.”

The minimum accuracy of temperature meter is actually 0.1 degree, which can be set actually.
So there is a way to set the accuracy as either 1 degree or 0.1 degree.

But we normally do not advice to set the accuracy as too small like 0.1degree.The reason is: the pump and solenoid glycol valves will frequently open and close, which is not good for the whole system and pump lifetime. So we normally set 1 degree as accuracy.

We will set the deviation as 1 degree when install the
brewery (it can be changed to 0.9, 0.8, 0.7, 0.5,...0.1 degrees freely as you want). So when you set 22 degree for FV (the set-temperature is defaulted to the lowest temp.), the lowest and highest temp. Range is 22 degree and 23 degree--it means when the temperature reaches 23 degree, the cooling starts. When the temperature reaches 22 degree, the cooling stops.

If you would like to maintain the temp. around 22 degrees, then it is advised to set the temperature at 21.5 degrees. So the lowest and highest temp. Range will be 21.5-22.5 degrees. Or you could change the accuracy into 0.8 degrees. When you plan to maintain the temp. around 22 degrees, you could set 21.6 degrees (SP), then the lowest and highest temp. range will be 21.6-22.4 degrees. ( start cooling in 22.4, and stop cooling in 21.6).
