Need a solution to store your milled grain prior to mash-in? Tiantai offers custom grist cases to fit your specific application for brewery.
Grist cases are crushed malt storage vessels, and key components in beer brewing. Positioned between the grain mill and the brewhouse, the grist case is the intermediary stop for grain after crushed, prior to introduction into the mash tun. The grist case is one component of the brewery grain handling system which also includes the grain auger, grain mill, and grist hydrator.
Tiantai provides the grist case with several key advantages:
1. Greatly reduces the inherent possibility of equipment failure in the brewery grain delivery system which can cause costly delays or short batching
2. Connect with auger directly to save labor
3. Greatly reduces grain dust
4. Mashing directly in one time
5. Provides long-term cost savings over more expensive pre-cracked grain
Where we can install the grain case in your brewery?
The delivery of grains to your brewhouse can be approached in a number of ways and can become challenging with bigger brewhouse volumes. This depends not only on the equipment you have at your disposal, but also allocating floor space if your intended space has a small footprint.
With the addition of a grist case, you can prepare a full batch of grist ready to go prior to starting your brew day. You don’t have to worry about mishaps at the mill or doing live milling while attempting to mash in at the same time.
There are a number of different configurations available.
1. Grist cases can sit on the ground next to the brewhouse.
2. They can also have a floor standing mill with a flexible auger attached. This would be delivering the crushed malt to silo mounted above the mash tun, providing quicker mash in times.
3. A malt mill can either be mounted directly above a grist case or split into stages of milling and grist collection. This gives the brewer the ability to run the mill and achieve the perfect crush of all grains before starting the mash. Once finished milling, the brewer can then engage an auger system to deliver the grist directly to the mash tun. This allows for concentration on correct strike temperature and liquor to grist ratios.
If you plan to brew multiple batches over a day, a grist case gives you an accurate solution for getting your grist weights correct if using larger malt bags (ton bags) or even a grain silo. With larger grist cases, the legs can be mounted on load cells giving you the ability to weigh out correct amounts of grain before sending for milling/into mash tun.
We provide turnkey solutions, if you need any suggest on brewery equipment design. I am at your disposal.
