1. The factor of malt

Use poorly-dissolved malt, the permeability of the malts is poor, which makes it difficult to lauter and wash the grains incompletely.

2. Factors of crushing

The malt is crushed too finely, the grains are small in size, not loose, the filter diameter is blocked, the permeability is poor and the filtration is difficult, and the grains are incomplete.

3. Factors of Mashing

The water consumption for Mashing is large, the water consumption for washing the grains is limited, the washing of the grains is incomplete, and the residual extract cannot be washed.

4. Factors of Wort Lautering

(1) The installation of the Lauter tank is inclined, making lautering and sparging is not even.
(2) When the mash enters the Lautering tank, the distribution is uneven.

(3) At the beginning of the Lautering, the wort discharge valve is opened too much and the suction is large, which causes the lees to shrink and viscous substances to mix into the spent grain bed tight, which makes Lautering and sparging is difficult.

(4) The Lautering area is not enough or the false bottom holes are blocked.

(5) The grains rake are uneven and the wort exudates unevenly.

(6) Too early or too late addition of the sparging water makes it difficult to clean.

(7) The temperature of the spent grain bed drops, the volume of the spent grains bed shrinks, the lautering is difficult, and the washing is incomplete.
