Starting your own microbrewery? The 3 basic steps for small brewery homebrewing are prepare, brew, and bottle. I’ll break down each one of these in detail below.
Step 1- Prepare
This step refers to gathering all of your brewing equipment and ingredients that you will need for brew day. If you already have a Tiantai home brew kit then you will have the majority of what you need.
What You Need
2 Gallon Fermenter
4qt or larger pot
Mixing bowl
Spoon or whisk
Can opener
2-gallons of cold water
Brewing Ingredients
Enough bottles to bottle 2 gallons of beer
If you have or are looking at getting a Mr. Beer Kit, it will come most of what you need, all you will need to provide is the pot, mixing bowl, spoon or whisk, can opener, and cold water. You can see all of our beer making kits, here.
Step 2- Brewing
Brewing with Mr. Beer is simple. We take the traditional brewing process that can take 6-8 hours of your time and cut it down to around 30-minutes. We use a product called Hopped Malt Extract, which takes the more time-consuming steps out of the brewing process. To learn more about Hopped Malt Extract, click here.
Sanitize all of your equipment
Bring 4 cups of water to a boil, then take the pot off the heat.
Add your can of Hopped Malt Extract (HME) to the pot and mix until dissolved.
Add 1 Gallon of cold water to your fermenter then add the liquid from the pot, then top off with more cold water.
Add your yeast.
That’s it! Now your beer will start fermenting.

Step 3- Bottle
Once your beer is done fermenting which can take 10-14 days you will be ready to bottle. If you are curious about what bottles we offer just click here to see our bottling supplies.
Sanitize your bottles and anything that will come in contact with your beer.
Depending on the size of your bottle you will a certain amount of table sugar or Mr. Beer carbonation drops.
Fill your bottles with beer, and add the cap.
Let the bottles sit at room temperature for about 2 weeks to carbonation.
That’s it! You made your first batch of beer, so sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor, cheers!
I think people get intimated a lot about trying to experiment with their brews, but this is a safe, easy and tasty way to try new flavors in your beer.
