We all know that boilers are an integral part of beer brewery equipment, and even the best breweries in the world cannot brew great beer without a first-class steam boiler system. So let's see how the steam boiler plays its role.
I. The Brewing Process of a Craft Brewery
Malt, yeast and hops aren't the only key ingredients in beer brewing; hot energy is also a necessity. Breweries need to be able to control the temperature so that the various ingredients in the brew react in a certain way and create the kind of taste they want. To do this, they need to heat the water to a specific temperature using steam heating.
II. Hot steam helps sanitary and sterilization
Steam boilers contribute to the craft brewing process not only by heating, but also by cleaning and sanitizing the tools and equipment used for brewing, including mash tun, lauter tun, or even fermentation tanks. Breweries may have several different ways to do this, including using chemicals. However, steam is the best way to kill bacteria that may remain on the beer brewing equipment. If you're using steam for heating, there's no reason not to use steam for sterilization.
III. Steam helps to clean the beer kegs
In addition to cleaning beer brewery equipment, steam is also important for cleaning the devices used to transport beer (i.e. kegs). If the kegs aren't properly cleaned, your hard-brewed beer can be contaminated with substances that aren't in the recipe. Unfortunately, hot water with limited use when it comes to cleaning beer kegs, and chemical cleaners can also do the job, but not ideal. Steam pressure can do it very well for cleaning and sanitizing kegs before transferring craft beer to the kegs for transport.
When it comes to brewing and cleaning, a steam boiler is an essential part of any brewery & distillery. If you have any further questions on the usage of steam boiler or steam heating, please feel free to contact with us!
