Many breweries are very concerned about how the brewery equipment is heated.

Basically, depending on brewery size, budget, there will be different brewery heating options that work best for you. Here are the three main options for Brewhouse heating:
Steam/direct heating/electric heating

1. Electric heating: mainly suitable for 1-10HL brewpubs
The first advantage is the highest energy conversion, as 100% of the electricity is converted into heat for heating the wort/water.The most cost-effective option than steam heating as it does not require any ancillary equipment and infrastructure investment.
The brewery site needs a considerable power supply. After all, a 10HL kettle need about 50KW, which is very suitable for brew kettle below 5BBL.

2. Direct Fire/Gas Heating: Ideal for 5-10BBL Nano brewery.
It avoids the high investment of steam boiler and solves the problem of on-site power supply requirements for electric heating equipment.
In some area there are strict law requirements, so double check with the burner supplier to ensure compliance with the relevant standards.

3. Steam heating brewing system:mostly suitable for more than 20HL commercial brewery

Steam heating can do the best process and quality control, especially in the mashing stage. It could get the high quality wort.steam generators are recommended for better energy conversion efficiency and lower cost. But also the highest choice than others, especially for some specific registrations in different countries.
