Lautering refers to the process of separating sweet wort from the grain bed. The lautering process can be finished manually or automatically. To avoid negative pressure under the bottom of false bottom, a grant normally is added to be as buffer tank. It will protect brewhouse tanks shape in good condition and help to judge if the filtration goes smoothly. Then should I have automatic filtration design for my brewery?

In my personal, I don’t think it is necessary. Of course, it mainly depends on brew masters preference. After all, it helps saving labor, and the brew master can do something else in th brewery.

For manual filtration, we can finish the lautering progress by adjusting speed control of pump.
So the pump transfer speed can match the lautering progress by gravity, thus shape continuous flow. It is not complicate in operation. Many microbreweries are adopting this method.

For automatic filtration, we can design high and low level control on wort grant. When the wort level at low point, the pump will stop working. Once the wort level reached high point, the pump will work and start transferring. If you are expecting high automation, it is a good choice for your brewery.

We provide turnkey solutions. If you need anything information for your brewery setup, I am at your disposal.
