During discussing brewhouse system design with customers, some customers requested hop stand on pipeline. So, what is hop stand? How to come true this?
In beer brewing, a hop stand, also known as whirlpool hopping, is a technique used during the brewing process to impart hop flavors and aromas to the beer without adding excessive bitterness.

Here's how it typically works:

After the boiling phase of the brewing process, when most of the bitterness from the hops has been extracted, the wort (unfermented beer) is cooled down rapidly to a specific temperature range, usually around 170-180°F (77-82°C).
Once the wort reaches this temperature range, hops are added and allowed to steep for a certain period, usually around 20-30 minutes. The hops are not boiled at this stage, which helps preserve their delicate aromatic compounds.
During the hop stand, the hops release their essential oils and aroma compounds into the wort, adding layers of flavor and aroma to the beer.
After the hop stand, the wort is cooled further and transferred to the fermentation vessel, where yeast is added to begin fermentation.
The hop stand is particularly popular in brewing hop-forward styles such as IPAs (India Pale Ales) and pale ales, where brewers aim to maximize hop aroma and flavor while minimizing excessive bitterness.

For 1500L beer brewing equipment, we recommend 4m2 tube heat exchanger, cooling time is around 20mins.
