Pros and Cons of External Heater for wort boiling

The external heater generally means cyclic heating by tubular heater or plate heater made of stainless steel, it is being installed separately out of the brew kettle. During heating, the wort flows from down to up side at speed about 2.5m/s.

The steam heating pressure better not exceed o.4Mpa. And the pros and cons of the external heater as below:

Pros:
1.There is overpressure boil inside of the external heater, the boiling temperature is much higher, so the boiling time could be shorten 20%~30%, it could help to save energy and improve the efficiency of the bitter substance.
2.The wort cycling times could be freely adjusted
3.Need lower saturated vapor pressure, saying at only 0.3Mpa
4.Many of the volatile substance that not good for beer flavour could be removed with the help of Pressure relief effect
5.A better wort boiling could help to reduce the PH of wort

Cons:
1.The wort cycling need help of pump, that means a higher current consumption
2.With more energy loss during heating
3.The wort with a much higher flowing speed inside of the external heater, the bigger shear force is not good for the beer flavour
4.Need bigger budget on the heating device
