Tips of operating keg cleaning machine in micro brewery

Recently I gradually received some messages from our customers asked how to operate the keg cleaning machine. The manual from our keg cleaning machine suppliers might only supply the most basic information. Below are a summarize report from our communication with our customers. They made the keg washer work successfully finally. So I’d like to share them here. If you have other supplement, welcome to leave message.

1.Is there a certain concentration of cleaning solution I should be using? 
1.5-2% concentration. The effective volume is 80L, the total volume is 100L.

2.Do I manually fill the Lye tank or is it filled automatically by the machine?
The caustic tank is filled manually only at the first time.
During the cleaning process, the caustic pump recirculate the caustic liquid automatically during cleaning process according to the program setting in advance by the keg washer supplier.


3.In the other tank, it says Hot Water so do I manually fill that tank or is it filled automatically by the machine?
The same with the caustic tank. The hot water is filled manually at the first time.
During the cleaning process, the hot water tank should be always keeping connection with the tap water with a hose, as the hot water will be drained directly that require bigger quantity.
There tap water shuld be alway open so there is alway water fill into the hot water tank, so there is sufficient hot water supply, and also the heaters will no dry burning.
There is float ball inside it, so no worry about over-fill.


4. Where do I put my Acid Sanitizer to sanitize the kegs after washing and rinsing?
There is no acid sanitazer tank for this model. I attached a cleaning program sheet to explain the whole process.
The two-tank keg washer is most popular in the micro brewery.
  

5.Compressed Air:
Required Flow in CFM and Free air delivery
0.42m³/min (14.83CFM)
The power is 4kw. Volume: 100L, pressure: 0.8MPa.


6.Air Quality requirement?  e.g. Filtered? Cooled? Oil Free?
Since the last step purge is by air compressor, please add the air filter on the air compressor.
 

7.Hot Water:
Required Litres per minute: The programm already set the appropriate process to clean the kegs by the keg washer supplier. We just need to press down the master button. Each keg consumes around 5-10L water.
And during the washing, please keep the connecting of the water hose and hot water container, there is a float ball inside the hot water container to ensure a certain water level in the hot water container.
The heating elements must be soaked into the water to avoid burnt damage. So keep the filling is necessary, when the hot water container is full, the float ball will stop the flow automatically, so no worry about a over flowing.
Required Temperature: 60-70 celsius
Required pressure: The keg washer comes with a water pump already, the pump is used for transferring the hot water in the keg under the program.


8.CO2:
Minimum flow requirement and pressure: The CO2 bottle is required  to provide a back pressure inside the keg after washing.
The CO2 bottle pressure can be set at around 0.3Mpa. When the CO2 flow through the keg washer, the pressure is adjusted to around 0.2Mpa automatically.
