The size of the lauter tun in your brewery equipment will depend on a number of factors, including the size of your brewhouse, your production volume, and the types of beer you plan to brew. In general, the size of the lauter tun should be proportional to the size of the brewhouse and the amount of grain you plan to use.

A good starting point for determining the size of your lauter tun is to use a ratio of 1.25-1.5 quarts of water per pound of grain. For example, if you plan to brew a 10-barrel batch of beer using 1500 pounds of grain, you would need a lauter tun that can hold approximately 1875-2250 quarts of water.

Other factors to consider when sizing your lauter tun include the height and diameter of the tun, as well as the amount of space you have available in your brewhouse. It's also important to consider the efficiency of your lauter tun, which will impact the amount of wort you are able to extract from the grain. As a professional brewery equipment supplier in China, when we calculating lauter tun size for our clients, the main factor is how much malt being used, we usually consider the spent grain bed thickness within 25~45cm, which is good for wort lautering and get clear wort.

In general, it's a good idea to consult with a brewery equipment supplier or a professional brewer to determine the appropriate size of your lauter tun based on your specific production needs and goals.
