Brewing water amount cost

About water cost in the brewing process, there are some point needed for use,we would like to explain below.

1.Mashing water using:take the ratio of the water and malts :1:4 for example,
It usually can brew the beer around 12°P.
For 2000L mash unit,water used volume,it needs about 2000X4/5=1600L.

2.Sparging water using:usually it needs water about 20% of brewhouse tank volume. So for 2000L brewhouse
tank,it needs about 2000Lx20%=400L water for sparging.

3.Heat exchanging(during the heat exchanger):as you know, for the two stage heat exchanger,it needs city water for
first time heat exchanging to cool down the wort with certain temperature. After the heat exchanging, the city water temperature
raised from 20°C to 60°C.and then it could be reclaimed to the hot water tank. The second stage is to use the glycol water go
on cooling down the wort to fermentation temperature about 7°C,at the same time, the glycol water temperature will raise
from -5°C to 3°C.Actually during this heat exchanging process, you can control the valve to control the glycol water and city
water volume using seperately. If you plan to use more city water and less glycol water to cool down the wort to a certain
temperature,so you could open city water valve wide.If you plan to use more glycol water and less city water to cool down
the wort to fermentation temperature,so you could open glycol water valve wide.in this way,it can reach to your purpose.

4.According to our brewmasters brewing experience, usually it needs about 1-2 times city water of the brewhouse tank volume
for heating exchanging.and 1-2 time glycol water (circulation volume)of the brewhouse tank volume for cooling.

5.The rest city water using is about tank washing and pipe washing. You can use the reclaimed heated city
water,it could be used for tank washing and pipe washing.

Overall, the totally city water cost is about 2-3 times of the brewhouse tanks volume.Hope it could be useful for your better understanding.
