Clear Glass Bottle Beer in Brewpub
What is the clear glass bottle beer? As the name implies, it is one kind of beer which is filled into clear glass bottle.
When you go to supermarket, stores and brewpubs etc, you would find most of glass bottles are with colors, especially green and brown. It is because these colors can protect beer from UV rays. UV rays is likely to alter beer flavor. So, clear glass bottle beer must have better light resistance. During brewing via beer equipment, the following factors had better be taken into account.
1. Do not add any fresh hops, crushed hops or hop pallets when boil the wort.
It can avoid bringing polyphenols and α acid into wort as these substances is very sensitive to UV rays. But you can add hop oil, 15% at primary boiling and 85% at the end of boiling.
2. Add hop extractum to beer.
In order to give beer bitterness and keep traditional beer flavor, we can add tetra hydric isomery hops extractum to beer after coarse filtration.
The advantages of tetra hydric isomery hops extractum:
A. High UV rays resistance. It can prevent beer from “Sun Smelly” and improve the beer stability to light.
B. Giving beer classic and crisp bitterness. 1BTU tetra hydric isomery hops extractum equals to 1.6BTU conventional hops.
C. Improving beer foam efficiently, and perfecting foam persistence&cup-hanging ability.
3. The yest should be Zeroth or first generation.
In this case, it has not touched with conventional hops which can increase the beer stability to light.
