How to improve the utilization of your brewery equipment?

Improving the utilization of your beer brewery equipment, just mean faster the beer brewhouse turnover. Trying to reduce the occupy time of each tank, including the lauter tun, boil kettle etc. Especially when brewing multi batches per day, a higher brewery equipment utilization would help a lot on saving time. So here it is what you can do:


 
I. Faster the turnover of your cereal cooker and mash tun
Improving the feeding temperature of auxiliary materials at about 65-70℃ , and using thermostable bacterial amylase instead of Malt liquefied materials. The mash can be heated directly by high temperature which will saves some time of heating.
Properly reduced the dosage of auxiliary materials, or added some protease, glucanase etc to form lower resting temperature of protein. It will minimize the protein resting time and total mashing time.
Adopted one time decoction, fast mashing or infusion mashing, which may saves some time of temperature rise or boiling. Of course, the malt better with higher quality.
 
II. Minimize the wort lautering time
Considering the wort lautering may be affected by many factors, the total time may reach 4-5h if the wort cannot be lautered smoothly. If the holdting time of the lauter tun not exceed 180min, it can be turnovered 8 times per day. By the way, if with the help of wort filter, the lautering only need 120min which will greatly improving the feeding times every day.
 
III. Minimize the holding time of brew kettle
Generally speaking, the brew kettle is the one which usually holding longest time, it is nearly equal to the holding time of Lauter tun plus the wort boiling time, though the efficient working time not exceed 90-120min. So it is very important to well control the process conditions. Besides, one wort storage tank with preheating fuction can be added after mashing. When the kettle is busy boiling, it can be used for saving the wort of next batch, then the holding time of kettle can be shorten to 160-190min, and with nearly 7.5-9 turnover every day.
 
I have to say, with the help of the above solutions, it is possible for the mash tun turnover 8-9 times per day.
