How to raise utilization of brewhouse unit
Raise utilization of brewhouse unit means to speed up circulation of brewing and to shorten elapsed time. Accordingly, we could raise brewing batches per day.
1.Shorten elapsed time of kettle tun.
Normally, kettle tun will take longest time in whole brewing process, while the effective working time is only 90-120mins. So, if we could add a buffer tank to hold first wort and part of sparge wort, that will reduce elapsed time of kettle tun and fast brewing process.
2.Shorten wort lauter time. Lauter tun will also take much time in whole brewing process. Especially, there is lots of factors will effect lauter speed. So, we need to learn factors that effects lauter speed and measures that to deal with hard lauter process.
3.If mash copper is adopted, we need to control using time of mash copper to avoid long time mixing.
A.Raise feeding temp of auxiliary material. For example, 65-70℃。
B.Choose suitable mashing method. For example, one decoction mashing, quick mashing or infusion mashing. That will save much time on separating mash, heating and boiling.
C.Reduce auxiliary material using or add other enzymes(protease,glucanase,saccharifying enzyme) to shorten protein rest time.
