Safety valve and bung valve
When considering the optional configuration, many customer feel confused for safety valve and bung valve. Both of them are related with pressure. In general, safety valve is necessary, safety valve is optional.
Now, let’s analysis this two valve together.
Safety valve: The safety valve is necessary for every fermenter. Its function is resisting the positive pressure and negative pressure. Our standard safety valve is 2bar valve. 3bar valve is optional. Safety valve make ferment under pressure possible.
Working: If the pressure inside fermenter up to 2bar(0.2MPa), the safety valve will be opened and air enter the fermenter, pressure is released. If the pressure insider fermenter is lower than -0.3bar, the safety valve will also be opened, air enters. The pressure will recover. That is what we say safety valve could resist the positive and negative pressure.
Bung valve: Safety valve only works in 2bar or -0.3bar, some customer hope to adjust the pressure inside fermenter for brewing different beer. In this time, bunging valve is necessary. The adjust scope of bung valve is 0.2bar-2.2 bar or 1.1bar-3.2bar.
Working: If we choose 0.2-2.2bar bung valve. We could set the bung valve in any pressure you want between 0.2-2.2bar, such as 1.5 bar or 1.3 bar(depending on brewing). So, if the pressure inside fermenter up to 1.5bar, the bung valve will work like the safety valve, air enter, pressure is released. However, if pressure inside tank is -0.2bar, bung valve will not work, that will be very dangerous for fermenter.
So, the safety valve is necessary, especially in resisting the negative pressure. While the bung valve is optional. The bung valve could be equipped with safety valve together. Safety valve protect tank, bung valve adjust the pressure.
However, no one fermenter could only equip the bung valve, no safety valve.
