The cooling method with different medium in heat exchanger
The wort need to be cooled from over 100 celsius degree to about 10 celsius degree within 40 minutes(already normally speed). It is good for producing better quality beer. According to different configuration of glycol cooling system, the cooling procedure with medium also will be important.
Base on our standard configuration, we supply glycol water tank and two stage heat exchanger.
Normally we use city water to cooling the wort temperature greatly lower in the first stage. The glycol water will go to cooling the wort to fermentation temperature in the second stage.
Also some brewmasters consider add cold liquor tank into consideration, to achieve better cooling efficiency, then we can use cold water to cooling the wort in the first stage heat exchanger, the glycol water will go to cooling the wort in the second stage heat exchanger.
In this case, if we use single stage heat exchanger, then only use cold liquor to cooling the wort also is OK. Then the cold water after finish cooling the wort will be recycle into hot liquor tank. It also helps save cooling energy.
