Configure electric heating and steam heating on the same brew kettle

One of out clients ask me if we can configure both electric heating and steam heating on his brew kettle, so they can heat the kettle with electric at the beginning and then with steam when a boiler is available in future.

Firstly, we only suggest electric heating for small volume brewery of below 10HL/batch. It is ok to heat with electric firstly, and then with steam for the 5Hl or 10HL brewhouse. It means that we will build the electric heating elements on the kettle, and also weld jacket on the kettle in case there is a steam heating in future.

What is the change to have both electric and steam heating on one brew kettle
The heating elements are mounted from a junction box, sealed with gaskets around each small terminal.
We can take off the elements one by one before using the steam heating solution and then seal the terminal holes with
the nuts and seals that we can supply in advance, or the holes can be also sealed via welding in your local if a electric heating is not required any more.

The jacket will be welded on the kettle bottom and the side wall (go across the junction box).
As we know, for steam heating, a vigorous boiling is mainly supported by an efficient heating from the bottom. The steam on side wall mainly help to maintain the temperature.
So an efficient heating is still ensured even the junction box occupies part of the area that decrease the steam jacket on wall.

We are manufacture of beer brewing equipment. Please feel free to contact us if you have any question.
