In breweries, blocking might happen when you pump mash from Mash tun to Lauter tun or pump wort from Lauter tun to Brew Kettle. Here, let us firstly talk about how to protect mash transferring from blocking when operating brewery equipment.
1.) Please pump a small amount of hot water to Mash tun before pitching grist, and let pipeline be full of hot water.
2.) Pitch barley malt firstly, then pitch wheat malt and others.
3.) Keep agitator running during mashing.
4.) When you start to pump mash from Mash tun to Lauter tun, please focus on Mash tun inside. If you find only water is pumped at the beginning, please agitate mash in time so as not to remain grist at last.
Friends, provided you have more solutions or suggestions to avoid blocking happening in brewery, we do appreciate if you would like to share with us. Your sharing would have more brewers be benefited.
PS: In next blog, we will share how to protect wort transferring from blocking.
